Game day! A great pre match day in Port Elizabeth.

Some of the sights from this mornings safari.

Pictures from last nights Safari

On Wednesday we took a boat trip across the bay to Robben Island.
We were met at the dock and initially enjoyed a bus trip around the Island through the prison officers’ living quarters and various prison secure areas.

The final part of the trip was on foot through the high security prison block. Our tour guide, for this part of the tour, was an ex political prisoner. He was very interesting.

And finally, Mr Mandela’s cell.

A dinner to celebrate Sir Gareth Edwards 70th year.

Another great day today, this time on the ‘hop on hop off’ bus around the Cape.

Another great trip today. First stop, Seal Island

Then onto Cape of Good Hope, which is the furthest South West Point of SA.

Finally, after a nice lunch in Simon’s Town (don’t know who Simon is) we stopped at Boulders Bay to see these little creatures.

They are not shy and don’t care who is watching, as you will see from this next photo.

Cape Town from the bar, on the roof, at night.

On arriving in Cape Town it was a quick pit stop at our hotel before heading off for Table Mountain and a ride on the cable car.
The weather at the top was perfect for some great views of Cape Town and the surrounding coastline.

including Robben Island
We saw the famous Dassie, which is the closest living relative to the African elephant, despite the enormous difference in size.
And then finally, back down in the cable car again.

We arrived…
but unfortunately did not conquer.
Daphne had a great evening.
After match BBQ was good and some great company.
