Weekend away in the Peak District

We had a wonderful meal at Lombardi’s Restaurant in Chesterfield this evening. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Would certainly recommend a visit and will come again next time we are in this area.

Tonight’s meal

Calamari Fritti
Brie Fritto
Linguine allo Scoglio
Paccheri al Filetto

Chesterfield has something in common with Pisa but not a leaning tower

Weekend away in the Peak District

We arrived at our hotel, Ringwood Hall, on Friday evening, following an earlier visit to my cousin in Loscoe.

Today, Saturday, we have travelled around the Peak District, after a quick visit to Sheffield. We have been to:

Derwent Dam was used as a practice area for the Dambuster 617 squadron before they dropped the bouncing bombs on the German dams, in the Ruhr Valley, during WWII

Next we went to Buxton and then down through Bakewell, passing many lovely sites of both countryside and small villages on the way, our final stopping point was Tipton Lock.

Having eaten at the Hotel restaurant last night, tonight we are going into Chesterfield and eating at Lombardis Italian Restaurant.
