Why is a job that looks so simple so hard?

The diaphragm on the inlet pipe has become non effective, in my down stairs loo and as a result the tank is constantly filling sending water down the overflow pipe. So all I need to do is replace the diaphragm, easy! No it’s not!

Been to B&Q twice and on both occasions bought the wrong product – even though its says universal on the package, it’s not! So back to B&Q to buy the whole unit but guess what, someone has opened all four packages and bits all over the place, so didn’t buy what I needed. Went to Homebase, they had the same units but at three times the costs, ridiculous. Will go to B&Q in Cardiff on my way home tomorrow.
